As we reflect on everything that Teens Against Fast Fashion (TAFF) has accomplished this year, we’re filled with gratitude and pride. What started as a passion project between two teens has grown into something we could have never imagined—a global movement fueled by the dedication of young people determined to rewrite the future of fashion.
This year, TAFF expanded beyond what we ever thought was possible. We welcomed 61 ambassadors from 12 states and 7 countries, each one bringing their creativity, passion, and determination to their local communities. In total, we hosted 35 activities that ranged from clothing swaps to upcycling workshops to educational presentations. Each ambassador is a leader, stepping up to teach their friends, classmates, and neighbors how to fight back against the harmful impacts of fast fashion. Together, we’ve proven that teens truly have the power to make a difference.
Our presence on social media also reached an all-time high. Over just the last 30 days of 2024, our Instagram account saw an incredible 41.3K views. This number proves the growing interest and engagement with our mission. With 47 posts shared throughout the year, we’ve turned our page into a space for education, inspiration, and connection. From practical tips for sustainable shopping to shocking facts about the environmental toll of fast fashion (FFFs), every post is a small step toward raising awareness. But what we love most is seeing the engagement: followers sharing their own ideas, tagging friends, and committing to make changes in their lives. It’s a reminder that this movement is so much bigger than any one person.
This year also brought its own set of unique challenges and opportunities for both of us. Even though we were separated for the entire summer, we still found meaningful ways to contribute to TAFF’s mission. While Charlie traveled to Peru with Global Leadership Adventures to work with the Patachanca community, Dylan attended Vogue Summer School in New York to participate in a fashion media program. In Peru, Charlie learned from a community that creates stunning, handcrafted pieces using alpaca fur and natural dyes, drawing inspiration from their sustainable practices. She brought that knowledge back to TAFF, showing us how sustainability can be deeply rooted in culture and tradition. Meanwhile, at Vogue, Dylan immersed herself in world journalism and wrote an article about sustainable style, sharing actionable tips on how to incorporate eco-friendly practices into everyday fashion. These experiences reminded us that no matter where we are in the world, there are always ways to make a positive impact—and our dedication to TAFF only grew stronger because of it.
What makes TAFF truly unique, though, is the people. The ambassadors this year have blown us away with their dedication and innovative ideas. Each one has brought their own voice, creativity, and leadership to their city. Ambassador Hailey Holland from Fort Lauderdale shared how being part of TAFF has helped her realize the power teens have to create a better world. “It’s empowering to know that even small actions, like hosting a clothing drive or choosing second-hand, can make a difference,” she said. Her words remind us that this movement is about so much more than reducing waste. It is about empowering people to believe in the impact of their choices.
As we look toward 2025, we feel immense excitement. We have big plans to expand our ambassador program, host more initiatives, and build stronger partnerships. The work we’re doing is far from over, but if this year has taught us anything, it’s that we’re capable of so much more than we realize. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen, and it starts with people like you who believe in this mission.
TAFF is more than an organization; it’s a movement. It’s proof that when young people come together, we can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, whether you’ve swapped a piece of clothing, shared a post, or joined our ambassador program. You’ve been part of something special, and we can’t wait to see what we accomplish next.
Here’s to a brighter, more sustainable future. If you’re ready to join us, visit teensagainstfastfashion.com. Together, we can continue making a difference.
Sincerely,
Dylan Berkowitz
